Human Trafficker Sentenced to Five Years Imprisonment, Ordered to Pay 20,000 Cedi Compensation to Victim
ACCRA, GHANA – The Jasikan Circuit Court, in the Jasikan District of the Oti Region on 20<sup>th</sup> September 2022, sentenced a 45-year-old fisherman to a five-year imprisonment term for the offense of human trafficking and ordered him to pay a compensation of 20,000 cedis to the victim. -

Survivors Come Together to Fight Child Trafficking
Organizations across Ghana gathered to raise the voices of survivors and educate the community on child trafficking. The Senior Lead for the Global Survivor Network, Josephine Aparo, said, “‘Hope in Freedom’ is rising as leaders in this community, but they are not standing alone. They are joining with survivor leaders across other parts of Ghana who are advocating against child trafficking in their communities, sharing their stories, and making sure this does not happen to any other child.” -

Launch of Marine Boat Patrol Pilot in Ghana
Marine Police personnel from the Ghana Police Service gathered to begin three weeks of classroom instruction as preparation for launching a boat patrol project on Lake Volta. Participants will then be selected to form the initial pilot unit that will begin patrolling the lake by boat, proactively investigating active cases of human trafficking in the fishing industry. -
