I WANT TO SHOW WOMEN I CARE

Invest

in protection.
Invest in hope.

The Problem

Without law enforcement and strong justice systems, people in poverty are uniquely vulnerable to forced labour, slavery, sex trafficking, police abuse of power and other brutalities. Fear of abuse and exploitation is a daily reality for millions of people. But there is hope.

Help rescue victims of sexual exploitation like Cassie

IJM helped rescue Cassie after six years of sexual abuse at the hands of a trafficker. But thanks to people like you, today she is safe and free.

Our Goal

International Justice Mission is a group of lawyers, investigators, social workers, and community advocates dedicated to finding long-term solutions to problems within the justice system.

Ultimately, we aim to protect half a billion people from violence by 2030. By leveraging resources from our donors and applying our proven solution to ending violence and promoting protection, we are uniquely equipped to dismantle systemic injustice through sustainable community protection. That's how we know we can reach our goal.

Here's what we do.

  1. Rescue and Restore

We partner with local authorities to rescue individual victims of violence and restore survivors to safety and stability.

  2. Bring Criminals to Justice

We work with justice system officials to ensure that criminals are held accountable, stopping the cycle of violence and deterring criminals.

  3. We Strengthen Justice Systems

We collaborate with justice system and community leaders to respond effectively to violence.

Our Impact

In addition to rescue operations, IJM works to establish long-term relationships with counterparts in the public justice system, enabling the sustainable transfer of skills built on open engagement and trust. Our efforts are already producing global impact.

The Dominican Republic

THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC has seen a 78% DECREASE in the prevalence of commercial sexual exploitation of children.

In 2014, children made up 1 in 10 people trapped in sexual exploitation. In public spaces, the number was even higher - at nearly 1 in 4.

In ten years, IJM and our partners rescued over 300 children from sex trafficking and trained 1,500 police officers, prosecutors, judges, and social workers on how to respond to sex trafficking.

This collaboration contributed to a 78% decrease in the prevalence of children being sexually exploited in the DR. There was a 7x increase in arrests made for child sexual exploitation in the last four years of the program, a true testament that the public justice system’s performance has improved.

South Asia

SOUTH ASIA has seen an 82% DECREASE in the prevalence of bonded labour slavery in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Over the past two decades, IJM has seen undeniable evidence of the tide turning towards protection in South Asia. Local governments who once denied modern-day slavery even existed in their region are now leading the charge to dismantle this crime, support survivors, and hold criminals accountable.

Because of IJM’s collaboration with implementing partners and government officials to rescue people trapped in slavery, outside evaluators measured a drastic 82% decrease in the prevalence of bonded labour slavery across Tamil Nadu between 2014 and 2021.

The Philippines

THE PHILIPPINES have seen an 80% DECREASE* in the availability of children for sexual exploitation.

After four years of IJM partnership with local law enforcement in Cebu, outside evaluators found a stunning 79% decrease in the availability of children for commercial sexual exploitation. Over time, IJM’s work expanded to Pampanga and Manila, improving the ability of police, prosecutors, courts and aftercare providers to combat commercial sexual exploitation of children and support survivors. The prevalence of child trafficking in the Philippines declined substantially – by 86% in Pampanga and 75% in Manila.
