The Cause

Around the world, the threat of violence is part of everyday life for people in poverty. It is as much a part of poverty as hunger, disease, or homelessness. According to the United Nations, justice systems in the area are so broken that five billion people – including the majority of people in poverty- live life “far from the law’s protection.” These children, women and men are vulnerable because their justice systems do not protect them from violent people.

Over 50 million people trapped in slavery, greater than the population of Canada.

International Justice Mission combats everyday violence, including slavery, sex trafficking, sexual violence, police abuse of power, and theft of land.

We do so by partnering with local authorities to rescue victims, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen justice systems. Our ultimate goal is to prevent the violence from happening in the first place.

An Opportunity to Support Our Work

Throughout the year we host fundraising and awareness events to support IJM’s work to end violence for people in poverty. The Development Growth Team is looking for committed partners to help cover event costs, allowing IJM Canada to send more money directly to the field. Your contribution is critical in making justice unstoppable and makes a public statement about your care for marginalized communities. Here are few upcoming opportunities to partner with IJM:
