Nine-year court battle ends with man sentenced to 70 years in prison
On August 8, 2023, with intervention by IJM Kenya, authorities and the brave testimony of two siblings, the man, who is suspected of having abused several other children in his church, was found guilty and sentenced to 70 years in prison, bringing to an end a nine-year legal court battle. -

Man sentenced to 50 years in prison for sexually abusing a 7-year old girl
On a July evening Vania*, then 7, was walking back home from school when she met a man her family knew. The man forcefully grabbed Vania and dragged her to a nearby bush and sexually assaulted her. That was in June 2016. More than six years later, thanks to intervention by International Justice Mission, the man who abused Vania will now serve 50 years in prison for what he did. -

Man found guilty in retrial after original conviction was overturned
The perpetrator appealed the court's decision and in 2014 a re-trial was ordered because of a technicality. That setback did not stop Anna, a victim of sexual abuse, and IJM's pursuit of justice. The case began for the second time in 2014 and after hearing testimonies from 7 witnesses, including Anna, the court, on September 7, sentenced the perpetrator to 12 years in prison. "It has been a long journey, 13 years seeking justice for Anna, but we are happy that justice has finally been served," said IJM lawyer Julius Nyaga. -

NAIROBI, KENYA - On Thursday, August 4, 2022, a Kenyan court sentenced a notorious sex offender to 100 years in prison for sexually abusing four minors under his care. For years, the perpetrator, who is the director of a children’s home, preyed on orphans, street children, and other impoverished children, promising to send them to school and provide them with a better future. -

IJM Implementing Partner Achieves 1st Conviction in El Salvador
After eleven months of hearings and against all odds the Salvadoran Association for Rural Health (ASAPROSAR), IJM’s implementing partner, achieved its first conviction. The court ruled in favour of two young sisters and sentenced the aggressor to 26 years for the crime of sexual assault - the maximum sentence possible by local laws. -
