International Justice Mission
2021 Year in Review
We envision a world where people are safe in their communities. A world where rescues are no longer necessary—because people are never exploited in the first place.
In 2021, we boldly moved closer to this future. Thanks to partnerships like yours, we are building a future of protection alongside our partners through bold rescues, raising the voices of survivors, expanding protection capabilities and strengthening justice systems.
WITH YOUR HELP IN 2021, IJM AND OUR PARTNERS:
Relieved
9,967
victims from violence and oppression
Restrained
4,516
suspected criminals
Restored
430*
survivors to safety and stability
Convicted
1,816
perpetrators in local courts
Trained over
16,000
justice system officials in actively addressing cases of violence
Trained over
31,800
community members and other NGO staff to recognize and respond to violence
*This number represents survivors “fully restored” using IJM’s externally validated Assessment of Survivor Outcomes (ASO) tool. There are thousands more survivors receiving care and participating in ongoing aftercare programs.
Building the Future of Protection, Together
International Justice Mission is nothing but people: our people in the field, our people here in Canada, and partners like you. Your generosity is bringing justice, safety and security to people who are trapped in senseless violence across the world.
As I look back on this year, I think of the small but mighty congregation in rural Ontario who, after hosting a Freedom Sunday, raised $10,000 to fund an entire rescue operation. I think of those who joined us for our first-ever ‘Virtual Trip to the Field’ with our team in the Philippines. And I think of the exciting new partnerships we are developing with artists like Dean Brody, who are using their platforms to bring even more Canadians into the fight to end slavery and injustice.
Every day, I see this movement of justice growing. Thank you for being all in with us as we seek to change the course of history for vulnerable communities around the world. Let’s continue bringing our full selves into this fight!
Until all are free,
Anu George Canjanathoppil
