Ed Wilson

Executive Director

Ed Wilson serves as IJM Canada's Executive Director. A strategic and visionary leader, Ed aims to mobilize mass contributions by Canadians for IJM’s mission of protecting the poor from violence. Prior to becoming Executive Director in 2014, Ed served as Chief Operating Officer of IJM Canada for eight years, during which time he helped lead the organization’s dramatic growth.

Ed is passionately committed to IJM’s mission and vision. He believes that each person, working as part of the greater collective, has the potential to help achieve this vision by speaking and acting against injustice.  Ed’s motto is "great ideas with great execution can change the world.” For many years, he pursued his dream of a community of activists committed to societal transformation through the churches that he led in Southern Ontario.

Immediately prior to joining IJM Canada, he served as a founding Board member and first Executive Director of Heartwood Place in Kitchener, Ontario, a non-profit organization providing safe, affordable and adequate housing to individuals and families in need. In 2004, Heartwood Place was honoured by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation with a National Housing Award for Best Practices.

Ed holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Western Ontario, and a B.Ed. from Queen's University in Kingston. Ed and his wife Judy live in London, Ontario and are parents to three adult children and grandparents to three.
